The documents containing specifications are called Civil Site Plans. Each trade is responsible for particular elements of the house. For example, a carpenter may create a blueprint for a carpenter’s work, whereas a roofer might plan a new building with a specific design.

Preparing the building site involves clearing the site of debris and leveling the ground. It takes one to two months to complete the framing phase. After the shell is completed, the roofing and siding can be added. Electrical and plumbing contractors will install wires in the interior walls. Typically, sewer and water supply lines will be installed at this point. One-piece shower/tub units will be installed at this point. The contractor will also finish the roof and the floor systems before installing the walls.
